Friction values

<<< back
The friction value µ of the tyre material is important for powered or braked wheels. The friction value depends on the type of surface, humidity, dust, grease, the contact surface to the ground and the tyre material. The praxis has shown that the friction values are variating due to parameter changes, so for example a Topthane®tyre can rub a rolled steel surface or a rough concrete surface blank or smooth.

The amounts of µ are approximately:

Indication: the values indicated are guide values to enable comparision of the different tyre materials.
